Dental Bridges Seattle, WA
We have a co-worker here whose young son loves bridges. He gets excited every time his family gets near a bridge. He always wants to stop right in the middle of the bridge so that he can look around. He’s only 4, but he already knows that bridges are awesome. They help us cross boundaries to get to new and exciting places.
We love bridges here, as well. Bridges are an important part of our practice. We can use bridges to restore teeth that are missing and your smile. If you need more information about bridges, keep reading. Queen Anne Family Dental can tell you about how we use bridges to make your mouth better.
What Are Bridges?
We use bridges to help us replace your missing teeth. Because there are several different reasons and different ways you can lose a tooth, we make several different bridges. Bridges are usually made from a mixture of porcelain and plastic, although some bridges have metal in them as well.
Traditional bridges are attached between two other teeth. We can attach them to natural teeth, crowns, or dental implants. The bridge has prosthetic or replacement teeth in the middle between metal ends. We cement the metal end onto your other teeth, dental crowns, or dental implants. There are also bridges that have metal ends only on one side, or they may have brackets. We make different kinds of bridges because some bridges are better for front teeth, while other bridges are better for side teeth or back teeth.
Why Do We Use Bridges?
We use bridges to correct several different problems with your teeth. Like dentures, there are lots of ways that bridges can be used to fix dental problems. You may have lost some of your teeth because of tooth decay. Tooth decay is caused by bacteria, which are in your mouth all of the time. If you don’ brush and floss daily, or you don’t visit us, you are more likely to lose a tooth, because the bacteria will make holes in your teeth. The bacteria can get into your bloodstream and cause issues with your jaw bone and TMJ.
Gum disease can also cause you to lose teeth. If you are using good oral hygiene, we can help you prevent gum disease. However, if you don’t practice good oral hygiene, the bacteria in your mouth can cause severe gum disease, which may cause you to lose a tooth. You can also lose teeth through accidents or injuries. Cancer patients and chemotherapy patients can also lose teeth because of cancer treatments.

We can use bridges to give you back your smile, but they can help your bite also. When you lose teeth, your other teeth may try and shift in your mouth to fill in the gaps from your lost tooth. That can cause problems with your bite over time. Don’t wait if you need a bridge. Give Queen Anne Family Dental a call at (206) 424-4450. We can help you with your missing teeth problems, and give you a reason to smile, by adding a dental bridge to it.
